Flo-Clean

Flo-Clean, Inc. is an early stage, specialty water-treating company focused on a highly specialized, but niche market of treating produced water from oil and gas production. Large volumes of once-through, subsurface brines and water of produced continuously with almost all oil and gas production. This water is normally brought to the surface with the oil and gas. The three streams of oil, gas, and water are separated through various types of bulk equipment on surface. However, each stream of liquids or gas contain some contamination from the other streams. For example, the oil and gas streams both contain some water that has to be removed, and the water contains some oil that has to be removed before it can be properly discharged, reuse, or disposed of in disposal wells.

The current regulations require that the oil and grease contamination in any discharged produced water be below 29 mg/l (often stated as approximately 29 parts per million--ppm). This removal of last small amount of oil and grease residual is referred to as a polishing step. It involves equipment such as gas flotation cells (micro-bubbles of gas used to collect and float free oil to the top of a cell where it can be skimmed. This is followed by filtration through micron-size sock filters discharged into specialty organocolloid filters that are then discharged to activated carbon filters for the final polishing step. Flo-Clean, LLC is bringing some new technology to this particular niche market in (1) a much better and easier way to handle the filter media, and (2) and a series of novel media that offers not only cost savings but can potential allow the operator to extract more problem materials from the water such as soluble metals. Although these latter regulations have not come into effect, they will as soon as reasonable technology is available. Flo-Clean, Inc. believes it will be at the cutting edge of changing some of the media technology and it will be based on its expertise in the organocolloid and biopolymer area.

Ven-Tech, Inc.

VenTech, Inc. (VTI) is primarily a specialty service company that supplies chemical management, other selective services, and some products to the production side of the oil and gas industry.

Once a well is drilled, it has to be completed and put into production. Numerous problems are associated with the production of oil and gas. The main reason for these problems is the copious amounts of water produced with hydrocarbons. Problems such as corrosion, microbiological problems, scale deposits, emulsions, and many other problems are associated with the production of water, handling it on surface, and treating it for ultimate reuse and/or proper disposal.

Because of these problems, coupled with the large volumes produced and the environmental requirements, water and the proper handling of water has become a key cost issues in the production of oil and gas. Large amounts of specialty chemicals are used to handle these water and waste water treating problems. Specialty chemicals can be a significant cost in the production of oil and gas. As a result, there is a demand for the expertise to handle, design, and manage these expensive chemical treating programs. Ventech, Inc. provides these chemical management services to the oil and gas operator. This group has the expertise to assist the oil and gas operator in designing the program best suited to fit an individual field or regional operation. It also handles all of the chemical bidding requirements on an annual basis, helps make the final selection of the company and the products, and then monitors the program once it is in place.

Water Division:
Flo-Clean, Inc. and Ventech LLC provide both products and services to treat the large volumes and problems of handling “produced water.” We are focused on the production side of the oil and gas industry with applications into other industrial markets.
